Voting Question: Army Active Duty vs Army National Guard?

Just graduated college in June. UC Davis Political Science. I've got a job lined up but I'm interested in joining California National Guard. [The whole part-time citizen, part-time soldier fits my liking] However, from information I've gathered if the ARNG activates you to full-duty you could be seeing some overseas time. Between 6months to 1 year. I know that your company will not be able to fire you BUT I would really hate to put them into a tight spot. Therefore going Active Duty has now been on my mind.
